Creating Confident Children

At The Wallace High School Preparatory Department and Pre-Prep, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional primary and pre-preparatory education in a warm, inclusive environment.

Our vision, Creating Confident Children, shapes a school experience where pupils are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We follow a holistic, whole-child approach that balances high academic standards with strong pastoral care, tailored learning support, and a deep commitment to developing each child’s confidence, and creativity.

Children benefit from a rich and varied curriculum that includes extensive sporting, musical, and artistic opportunities, alongside an exciting outdoor learning programme that promotes curiosity, resilience, and wellbeing. Our distinctive location affords pupils rich opportunities for outdoor education, complemented by direct access to the extensive resources of the Grammar School.

Underpinned by our CORE values—Commitment, Opportunity, Respect, and Excellence—Wallace Prep offers a nurturing, future-focused education where every child is known, valued, and inspired.

We hope this website gives you a glimpse of the vibrant life at our school—but nothing compares to experiencing it in person. We’d be delighted to welcome you for a visit and show you all that Wallace Prep has to offer. To arrange a tour, please contact the office on 028 9267 2311 or email prep@wallacehigh.net.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Mrs Anna Patterson

⭐️ Ulster Girls’ Hockey Blitz at Friends’ School Lisburn ⭐️ Our girls enjoyed a fantastic morning of hockey at Friends’ School Lisburn, showing maturity, determination, and great team spirit against schools from across the Lisburn area. There were goals galore, with Isla netting an impressive 7 and Sophia McB adding 4 more to the tally. Well done to Jennifer for a confident performance in goals. Despite the chilly weather, it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning of sport. A huge thank you to Mr McBride for giving up his time and sharing his expertise. Well done, girls. We are so proud of you for representing the school so brilliantly!
Our P6 engineers have been hard at work planning, building and testing their very own spacecraft designed to bring an astronaut (…aka an egg!) safely back to Earth from a great height. Using a range of materials and their new learning on gravity, air resistance and impact force, pupils created imaginative and carefully engineered designs. During testing, one out of three brave astronauts survived the mission! 🧑‍🚀 After the big drop, P6 reflected on their designs, celebrated what worked well, and discussed what they would change if they could build again. A brilliant blend of science, creativity and problem-solving!
Our P1–4 pupils had an amazing session at SALTO, practising their gymnastics skills with confidence and huge smiles all round! From balancing to bouncing, rolling to climbing, they showed fantastic energy and enthusiasm! #Gymnastics #ActiveKids #LearningThroughPlay
P7 tried out water filtration using gravel, sand and cotton wool. Lots of “wow!” moments as they watched the water gradually clear. Super proud of our young scientists! 💧🌟
A massive well done to all our P7 pupils for your incredible hard work throughout the SEAG process! You’ve shown amazing resilience, focus, and dedication, and you should be so proud of everything you’ve achieved. No matter the outcome, it’s the effort you put in and the positive attitude you brought every step of the way that truly counts. 🌟 You’re all stars! 🌟✨
Pupils in P5-7 have now taken their circuits work to the next level. This session introduced squat jumps, plank shoulder taps, push-ups and star jumps, giving everyone the chance to build strength, stamina and coordination. To add an extra layer of excitement, each team worked together to record the number of repetitions they completed at every station. At the end, totals were added up to determine an overall winning team, encouraging accuracy, teamwork and a bit of healthy competition! Fantastic effort from all pupils - their energy and determination continue to shine through!
Today, P6 worked on calculating fractions of amounts using Smarties. Pupils used the sweets to model and check their calculations, helping them understand how fractions apply to real quantities. A productive (and popular) lesson all round!
Our P7 learners have been diving into our Water topic and exploring the fascinating world of bridges. They have been putting their engineering skills to the test in a STEM lesson which involved designing and building their own bridges, then testing their strength! 💪 It was amazing to see teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving in action. Who knew learning about structures could be so much fun? #STEM #LearningThroughPlay #FutureEngineers #Primary7 #BridgeBuilding
P3/4 logged on to C2K NewsDesk and explored a range of interesting articles about endangered animals. The class learned about the importance of protecting wildlife and discussed ways to help! #c2kNewsDesk #prepschool
