Creating Confident Children

At The Wallace High School Preparatory Department and Pre-Prep, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional primary and pre-preparatory education in a warm, inclusive environment.

Our vision, Creating Confident Children, shapes a school experience where pupils are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We follow a holistic, whole-child approach that balances high academic standards with strong pastoral care, tailored learning support, and a deep commitment to developing each child’s confidence, and creativity.

Children benefit from a rich and varied curriculum that includes extensive sporting, musical, and artistic opportunities, alongside an exciting outdoor learning programme that promotes curiosity, resilience, and wellbeing. Our distinctive location affords pupils rich opportunities for outdoor education, complemented by direct access to the extensive resources of the Grammar School.

Underpinned by our CORE values—Commitment, Opportunity, Respect, and Excellence—Wallace Prep offers a nurturing, future-focused education where every child is known, valued, and inspired.

We hope this website gives you a glimpse of the vibrant life at our school—but nothing compares to experiencing it in person. We’d be delighted to welcome you for a visit and show you all that Wallace Prep has to offer. To arrange a tour, please contact the office on 028 9267 2311 or email prep@wallacehigh.net.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Our P7 scientists had a fantastic day experimenting with floating and sinking. Pupils planned and designed their own tinfoil boats before testing how durable they were and how much weight they could carry before sinking. There was lots of excitement as everyone tested their ideas, made improvements and compared their results like real scientists and engineers. 🚒 As part of our Titanic topic, pupils also explored how cold the water was when the Titanic sank. They carefully placed their hands in very cold water to help them understand just how freezing the Atlantic Ocean would have been. This helped them build empathy and reflect on the experiences of the passengers who sadly did not survive. A great day of investigation, problem solving and thoughtful discussion!
P1/2 had a great time in the ICT suite creating spring flower drawings as part of our current topic. Pupils practised their mouse skills while exploring digital art and showing lots of creativity. πŸŒΈπŸ’»
Pre-Prep enjoyed a reading session with some of our sixth form students during World Book day. While our youngest students enjoyed being read to, developing good listening skills and early literacy. The older students build confidence and empathy. This was a lovely way to bring different age groups together through a shared love of reading.
Our P7 pupils had a brilliant time competing in the basketball blitz today! πŸ€ Held at the Lisburn Racquets Club, both of our teams played exceptionally well and showed fantastic teamwork, determination and perseverance throughout the matches. We are so proud of their effort, sportsmanship and positive attitude. Well done everyone! πŸ‘
For World Book Day, the entire Prep teamed up to create a "Collaborative Tale." The journey began with the imaginative sparks of our Pre-Prep pupils and travelled through every classroom until the final chapter was written. πŸ“– We are so impressed by the creativity and teamwork shown by every child. It’s the perfect celebration of how stories connect us all! #WorldBookDay2026 #wallaceprep #YoungAuthors #StorytellingMagic
Our P5 and P6 classes teamed up for an exciting STEM lesson with Miss McDonagh. They tackled a classic head-scratcher: Why do small coins sink, while massive steel boats stay afloat? 🌊 ⛴️ It was great to see the pupils collaborating, testing their theories, and diving deep into the world of buoyancy and displacement. Great work, everyone! #STEM #PrimarySchool #FutureScientists #LearningTogether #WallacePrep
Yesterday we had a very special treat ✨ A visit from@gyasishepp who came to read his brilliant book But Dancing is for Girls! πŸ“šπŸ’ƒ We loved meeting him and listening to his fantastic story. Thank you for such a fun and inspiring visit! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
Our school transformed into a living library today as we celebrated World Book Day. From incredible costumes to the quiet magic of the whole school reading together, it has been a day to remember. The hallways were alive with literary spirit and amazing creativity from every year group. Keep a close eye on our feed for the big reveal of our whole school story. It is currently travelling through the classrooms being written one chapter at a time, and we cannot wait to share the finished masterpiece with you. #WorldBookDay #ReadingForPleasure #WallacePrep
Congratulations to our Medallion team on making history by winning the Medallion Shield outright for the first time in our school’s history, sealing a superb 19–17 victory over Sullivan Upper in a thrilling final! Pupils from Prep thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere at the Affidea Stadium!
