Creating Confident Children

At The Wallace High School Preparatory Department and Pre-Prep, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional primary and pre-preparatory education in a warm, inclusive environment.

Our vision, Creating Confident Children, shapes a school experience where pupils are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We follow a holistic, whole-child approach that balances high academic standards with strong pastoral care, tailored learning support, and a deep commitment to developing each child’s confidence, and creativity.

Children benefit from a rich and varied curriculum that includes extensive sporting, musical, and artistic opportunities, alongside an exciting outdoor learning programme that promotes curiosity, resilience, and wellbeing. Our distinctive location affords pupils rich opportunities for outdoor education, complemented by direct access to the extensive resources of the Grammar School.

Underpinned by our CORE values—Commitment, Opportunity, Respect, and Excellence—Wallace Prep offers a nurturing, future-focused education where every child is known, valued, and inspired.

We hope this website gives you a glimpse of the vibrant life at our school—but nothing compares to experiencing it in person. We’d be delighted to welcome you for a visit and show you all that Wallace Prep has to offer. To arrange a tour, please contact the office on 028 9267 2311 or email prep@wallacehigh.net.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

🧸✨ Busy Makers in P1/2! ✨🧸 After reading a non-fiction book all about making things, our P1/2 pupils got hands-on and made their very own teddy bears! There was even some teddy bears dancing too 💃🕺 Next up, the children will be writing their own instructions explaining how to make a teddy bear, turning their practical work into super writing
We had a fantastic time celebrating NSPCC Number Day! All classes enjoyed taking part in a range of fun and engaging maths challenges in their classrooms, putting their problem-solving and number skills to the test. We finished the day with an exciting whole-school maths competition in the hall, where teamwork, enthusiasm and brilliant maths thinking were on full display! Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such a fun, memorable day while supporting a worthwhile cause. 💙❤️
A massive congratulations to our girls' netball team! They won all 3 of their matches at a blitz yesterday. We are very proud of them all 💪 💙❤️
Today we learned how to be Internet Superheroes! 🦸‍♂️ This year’s theme for Safer Internet Day is 'Empowering Minds, Protecting Futures: Navigating the AI Frontier Together.' That’s a big title, but it really means learning how to use cool new tools like AIsafely and kindly. We talked about checking with a grown-up before clicking, being a good friend online and sing our detective brains to spot what's real and what’s AI! 🕵️‍♀️
P1/2 have had great fun building marble runs during their play. There has been lots of conversation about how to make them bigger and better and how to make them more stable when a little wobbly!
Today’s weather may have kept us away from Wallace Park, but it provided a great lesson in resilience for Children’s Mental Health Week. 🧠 💪 Instead of the walk, the whole school gathered for a Plan B full of movement and team-building. From a Joe Wicks workout to a competitive school quiz, the atmosphere was electric. It was a fantastic reminder of how important it is to spend time together as a community 💙❤️
P7 have kicked off Children’s Mental Health Week by talking about what we can do to feel better about ourselves. They shared ideas for looking after our mental health and worked together to create Mental Health Toolkit posters for all age groups. These posters will be displayed around the school to remind everyone of simple, positive ways to support our wellbeing every day!
Primary 6 enjoyed a clay modelling workshop. They manipulated dough to create their favourite rainforest animal!
P1/2 created a cake for Kipper after reading the book The Toy’s Party. It had lots of tasty ingredients – cornflakes, tomato sauce, sugar, jam, milk and baked beans! 🍰
